FAQs

I have never played the guitar before! Is that okay?

Yes! Beginners are very much welcomed. It would be an honour to join you at the start of your journey.

What if I don’t have a guitar?

That is okay! I have a few spare instruments that you are welcome to play for the first lesson or so. I’d recommend getting your hands on a guitar as soon as you can, but it is no problem at all. Give me a shout for guidance on how to choose a nice entry level guitar.

How long are lessons? What would you recommend?

Lessons are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour in length. For young guitarists just starting out, 30 minutes is plenty long enough.

What times do you teach?

Monday to Friday 10am-7pm

Weekends 10am-1pm

I am a gigging musician, so there is always an element of the unknown in my schedule, but I will let you know in advance if I will be unavailable.

How do you take payment?

Payment is via bank transfer before / on the day of the lesson. I can offer a discounted rate for blocks of lessons.

What do I need to bring to my lesson?

For lessons at my home in Sherwood, all you need is your guitar. I have amps, cables and anything else that you might need. If I am travelling to you, you will need to have your own amp (if you play the electric guitar).

What genres do you teach?

I teach all popular genres. I do not specialise in metal, jazz guitar or classical guitar, but can teach to intermediate level.

Do you teach electric or acoustic guitar?

Both! Either is fine.
