My Approach

Lessons are tailored to your unique needs and ambitions.

For absolute beginners, I aim to get you playing the guitar immediately, building your confidence. The goal is to get you up and running with the essential knowledge and skills you will need for a solid technical foundation of guitar playing. Things may seem a little abstract at first and progress will take time, but I hope to make the early process fun and rewarding with lots of playing.

For intermediate guitarists, we can work towards Trinity Rock & Pop graded exams if you would like to, or if not we can work towards any goals that are meaningful to you. I find that having a progressive framework can be helpful to make consistent progress, but every student is different. I will always listen to you and respect your wishes. Some people are goal orientated and some people are not- neither is right or wrong.

For casual adult guitarists, I can offer guidance on anything that you might want to work on- ear training, music theory, writing lyrics, music production etc.

I also teach songwriting and music theory. I can offer a safe, non-judgemental space to share works in progress and I can give feedback, guidance or just encouragement.

I can’t practice the guitar for you, but I can promise to support you in every way that I can.
